New car parking spaces!

April 29, 2007

Here is a a new concept of car parking. If you are so desperate to stop your car in a location closest to the place you want to go to, then all you have to is imitate the action of those dudes, thinking it is the best place to park to shop in a near supermarket!

No I’m just kidding (Coz I don’t want you guys to do this and then blame tito for advising you to do that when police catches you!). The thing is the driver was driver driving so fast whilst approaching the roundabout, and he didn’t pressed on the brake paddle early so BOOOOOM into the roundabout.

Talking about roundabout, I heard once that Japan does not have any roundabouts at all. My friend told me once that they even celebrated once the last roundabout was removed from the streets of Japan, any confirmations on that?

Oh and finally, I’ve added some blur on the roundabout number so that I let you guess which roundabou no. it is.

UPDATE: you can find the answer on my flickr page

Tito unleashed!

April 27, 2007

Uffffff at last internet is back!!!!! ,, I am no longer Mr. Suspended . The case got too complicated that i thought i would stay “internet-less” for the remaining of my time here!

Well, the story begins when I was browsing the net the day after I returned from Bahrain. In the afternoon, my network was suddenly disconnected. I was like “God damn it.. what the hell?” and some other words you don’t wanna know.

So I went the university (Walked all the way to the bus station and then took the bus to the top of the hill and thatz where the university is located). I realised that I was disconnected because BUCS (Bath University Computing Services) suspected that my computer was either infected by some sort of a virus or a trojan or been using peer-to-peer software which illegal according to BUCS regulations. So that night of that day I did a full virus scan and reviewed all my program list to find that my computer was neither infected by a virus nor had a peer-to peer software.

At that point I was so damn frustrated, and begun to write a draft text to send the next day to BUCS equiring about the disconnection of the service. So the first thing in the morning was going to the computer lab and sending that email, then I went to the lecture. When i finished the lecture, i returned to find a reply from BUCS saying that eventhough I ensured them that there isn’t any virus or peer to peer software, they wanted me to bring my PC to BUCS helpdesk to make a full check or they won’t disconnect the service. I was shocked, cause I asked myself, how the hell would I bring my 50kg CPU from the edge of the town to the university campus up the hill?

Then I sent another email, this time no formality, no polite language. I said I damn sure I didn’t break any regulations mentioned on this page (click here) . I said if you don’t reconnect me once you got that email then I don’t want your service anymore keep it for yourself! I was really pissed off. I hate it when I am write about something and people wanna prove me wrong. After that, and few minutes later, this BUCS guy sends me an email saying he would disconnect me for a week until the 27th of April and that I should have paid a fine of £20 (B.D. 14) but they lifted it of and warned me that if any future incident happens. I will be suspended for 1 month and pay a fine of £40 (B.D. 28). The funny thing that I’ve been suspended for more than a week for something I never did and la they wanna prove me wrong! and now they have changed the regulation page (linked above) to include more and stricter regulations killah because of the incident i caused!

Well, what have I been doing for the past 8 or 9 evenings? mmm, I’ve really become a good student (proud of it haha) coz i come around 5 or 6pm change my cloths, work on my assignments, then play some hearts, listen to Elissa , play around with photoshop and then watching one or two episodes from House M.D. before going to bed. I go to bed around 9.30pm to wake up at 7am and by 8am I am the university computer labs checking my email and sufring the net. In the weekend, I’ve wandered around the town with my camera and took many shots and hope to conitnue that this weekend somewhere else in the town!

So that’s it basically, since I came back here. I’ve handed in the presents i brought from bahrain. Mattai, Nasshab, Dates and Bahraini Halwa. Plus, some key chains and all were happy about it.

The weather in Bath is ridicoulos. In the morning the weather is so cold that it nearly reaches freezing point, then in the afternoon it’s so hot that it reaches 22-25. and sometimes after a sunny day it suddenly rains out of nowhere. I don’t know what to wear anymore. Plus it’s intresting that the sun stay bright and shine up in the sky up until 8.30 – 9 pm so we are enjoying longer days and less dark =D. It’s just the greatest period during the whole year, but hope the weather stabilises and stays nice and clear!

Well, I’ve got many things to say so stay tuned!

April 20, 2007

I have been disconnected from the internet again from my residence and this time I’m not sure when exactly they would reconnect it. I am sure this time I have been complying with the rules and haven’t violated any. Poor me! Now all I have is to access the internet from uni. computer labes which isn’t very nice!

Here is the email I’ve been sent:

First of all your stats show you were not complying with the rules, now this is time for you to take your desktop (CPU only) to the helpdesk in the library and get it checked with our advisors. Please let us know the findings of helpdesk.

Back to Bath

April 17, 2007

WARNING: THIS IS A VERY LONG POST. IF YOU HATE READING LONG ARTICLES LEAVE NOW OR DIVIDE THE READING INTO PARTS =D

Well, hello guys and ladies,

Here I am again in Bath to finish what is left from my studies. The few hours before I left yesterday were the busiest since a long time. As I woke up at around 9.30am wasn't unable to relax until I found my seat in the plane!! I woke up on a call around 9.30am from someone asking to buy my camera for a silly cheap price and i refused and told him that I am leaving in few hours. Then opened my room door to go to wash up and found some lovely notes from my family members asking me to try my luck and amend my journey for few more days and stay till the weekend. I was so happy my family wants me to stay more!!

I went with my bro.  to Manama where I bought some presents for some friends here and directly then to Gulf Air to ask them to change my flight schedule but rude employee refused to change it. I was angry not because she didn't change the schedule but with the way she talked and treated me like I don't know what type of ticket I got! I didn't argue because it's no use to do that to a lady the same age as my mother.

Then I went to have a haircut (for 500 fils!!) and on the road back home a friend called around 1.20pm saying he's at the door of our house and waiting to say goodbye. We arrived there, let him in, had a chat and some drinks and said goodbye. After he left, my parents have already returned from work and the family was ready for lunch but I haven't took a bath to clean up myself from the hair nor pray! so I skipped lunch to do that.

As soon as I finished my shower I said bye bye to my bro (since he will be in uni from 4 till 10pm and unable to come to the airport). When I was ready to pray some other bunch of friends came along around 3pm. I sat with them till around 5.40pm and I was planning to leave home around 6.30pm for my 9.10pm flight. I had plenty of stuff to do. Pack up my stuff!! pray!!! go to the nearby supermarket and buy some essential (not mentioned!). So I had to do everything as fast as possible.

Although I was fast, I wasn't unable to finish at 6.30pm. I barely finished preperation to leave at around 7pm! And as I was already leaving I suddenly remembered that all the photos that I took during this holiday was saved in my brothers laptop.!!! How could I leave without my dear photos??

So I asked my father (He was driving to the airport) to wait for few minutes so that I burn the photos into a DVD!! While the laptop was in the process, it suddenly turned off as there wasn't enough charge in it. So I had to do the process again!! and it already reached 7.15pm. But after that il-7amd lillah I had the DVD.

We drove the road and reached the airport and when I entered the departures floor it was fully loaded with all sorts of nationalities leaving back after attending the F1 grand prix.

I went to the Gulf air check-in section. There was a lady around my age, she seemed immature in her job and could have made me a serious problem and I'll tell you how. First she asked for my passport and frequent flyer card to issue me a boarding card and hand in & tag my luggage (only a 20kg bag). She failed to do the process once, twice and thrice and at each I had to take my passport and card out to do the process again!! There was also an order to change all the flight from Bahrain-Muscat-London to directly Bahrain London as there wasn't any flight from Muscat to London. I didn't know that at the time of issuing the boarding card. But the young lady continued with issuing me boarding card from Bahrain to Muscat and then from Muscat to London.

Then I said goodbye to my family. I really felt so sad to witness the tears on the eyes. I never felt so sad and depressed like that before. I didn't want to leave at that time. I asked myself "why I had to do a masters degree? chan inta now having a job at Bahrain and with your family rather than feeling this sadness!"

I always try to avoid coming back to Bahrain only because I don't want to face this moment of saying goodbye to everyone. What made my mood worse is that I would be leaving home in وقت المغرب whereas this time is the time that I usually enjoy staying at home having a cup of tea and watching TV.

Anyways, then I went directly to the gate to depart to Muscat. I had my headphones on my ears and at first I heard something like (… flying from Muscat to London….). I said "oh that's same as my flight" and put on my headphones again and continued waiting until my turn to board into the plane. Then again, few moments later, I heard the announcer saying (Could mr. tito flying from Muscat to London contact the transfer desk on the ground floor ASAP). As soon as I heard my name i left the queue and while I was walking I was asking every employee in the airport about the location of the transfer desk until i was able to reach it. There, I asked one of the employees on what's going on? He said we need to change your flight schedule as there isn't a plane from Muscat to London and he would place me in the plane going from Bahrain directly to London!!! I said yepeee!!! your the best in Gulf air.

Then I asked him when the flight is leaving directly to London, he said at 1.15am and I looked into my watch and it was only 8.50pm. So this brilliant idea came up is to leave the airport and return home until the time of the fligh comes up. I called my family and they were just entering the home back from the airport, and I said "la don't!! come back and take me back home! I wanna spend some more time with you!!) so after like half an hour from the call they arrived back to the airport, took me back home, spent like one and half hour watching tv and had some dinner and calling back a friend to tell him what happened. I first told him my visa was expired and they won't allow me on the plane and that I need to stay few days and he was happy for few moments then i told him what had actually happened.

around 11.30pm, me, my brother (he came from uni) and father went to the airport and I did the check in procedure again. In summary, it was a nice experience to change the flight and leave the airport to go back home for a while and come back again. The flight was awsome as I slept prior to taking off and woke up just 27 minutes before landing and the passengers were really awsome people (l2na no children or noisy Indians or paks!!).

A strange thing is that on the plane just before landing in Heathrow I thought about the blog. I had a topic in my mind which is kind of personal and I was thinking whether to write about it or not but i thought if i bottle up this feeling much more i won't be happy for a long time. SO BE IT!!!, it least it will be better when i let it out in the next post!

Sorry for the very long post for those who have reached this line. Baaaaaaal, I feel so sad and lonely right now and with this personal issue my sadness is doubled =(

I will update my flickr page  to share with you some lovely photos around bahrain.

Thank you

Holiday .. Game over!

April 15, 2007

Hello dear friends,

Well, I guess from the title u'd know that this is the end of my holiday here. It was enjoyable for me in many aspects. It was a chance for me to meet my family again and spend quality time with my family. It was a good chance to reunion with some old friends that I haven't been in touch for a very very long time.

This holiday was an eye opener for me in many ways. Firstly,it was a chance for me to measure the changes that occured to my personality and lifestyle and to my surprise they were plenty! For instance, I've been more outgoing ,, less being loner ,, taken more responsibility ,, and a lot of things ,, but i don't wanna make the list so damn long.

I also had this idea to live away after graduation for few years (or maybe forever) in UK and I've been saving money for a long time to do that. However, when I came back here all these "living-abroad" plans simply blew away. I realised that I won't be able to start a real life (not a student one!) in any other place away from Bahrain, hence I am sure I will return as soon as I finish my studies. My real life is here! not in UK!

I have lots and lots of things to say, but it'll be a very long post and too boring to read. Maybe I'll post some more tomorrow.

The last thing is that I need  your suggestions. I want to buy some presents for my friends back there and I am still not sure what to get them. I need at least 10-12 presents. So they ought be small so there could be enough space for my items I need these presents to be nice and represent Bahrain. I went to Ramez and lifestyle yesterday hoping that I might find something with these specifications, but I didn't manage to find anything. I'll be grateful if you suggest me some ideas coz I'm kind of desperate on places to look and which presents to buy and time is passing by quickly.

Again I am very happy and pleased that I've returned back during the holiday to Bahrain, as this holiday helped me to strengthen my friendship with many of you dear bloggers and made me feel being appreciated for who I am and what I write in my blog. It is now time to pray and get ready for the final F1 race =)

Thank you very much in advance for your suggestions

Best wishes,

Tito
